Positive: I actually rented a whole rural house (I was doing the Camino de Santiago). The house is in the village of Villarmayor, 5kms from Grandas de Salime, with a good taxi service (I will always be very grateful to taxi driver Carmen, a tough, honest, and efficient woman). The house has everything necessary for a few days of tranquility, with a wide range of items in bathrooms and kitchen, bed linen, washing machine, TV, Wifi, etc. It had been a long time since I… heard silence! I also want to acknowledge the owner of the house, José Manuel Soto, who was attentive at all times to ensure I was comfortable and had no setbacks. I am very grateful for that. If anyone wants to relax for a few days, enjoy the tranquility of the countryside and experience moments of peace and silence, this is the place. Negative: It might be a good idea to consider replacing the mattresses in the beds with something a bit more comfortable. The 4 that are there are very "battle ready" (I hope I am making myself clear).

José Maria's little house near Grandas de Salime is a gem: ideally kitted out, very clean, lacking for nothing. José Maria himself is an excellent, attentive and very reactive host who gave us many useful tips for our stay. The surrounding countryside is both majestic and delightful. I recommend La Cantina completely.
