Great classic (ski) chalet in quiet village

We (family of 4, two children, 17 & 18) had a wonderful 12-day stay in a classic ski chalet in Stosswihr, ideally located near Munster and Colmar, and a great base for exploring the Alsace/Vosges area for hikes and charming little villages. Our host Christian has done a wonderful job creating a classic and cosy interior, also suitable for summer stays. Because of the slightly higher altitude, temperatures are somewhat lower and with sensible use of windows and doors the chalet could be kept reasonably cool, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Christian told us he plans to install air conditioning in the near future. The chalet was almost fully equipped in terms of appliances and dishware. We were greeted on arrival with a jar of homemade honey and a sparkling wine “crémant” from a winemaking friend of Christian in the same village. Nearby are two bakers (one good, one great — try the raspberry croissants! 😄) and a 10-minute drive to Munster for a large supermarket. We loved being able to sit outside in the shade of some trees. Christian was continuously available via app and phone and also dropped by to say hi — very friendly and service-minded owner, great! We would not hesitate to come again; I think any season would work. Highly recommended if you value some privacy away from the sometimes crowded tourist towns, while still close enough for groceries and visits.
