El Golfo

My husband and I spent 10 days at this lovely little house in El Golfo. A friend joined us for a bit and the house is plenty big enough for three adults. A family with two children would be fine, I think five adults may find it a bit cramped.

The house is a short walk from the sea front. There is no view or garden but the terrace at the back is a real sun trap and well sheltered from the wind. El Golfo is popular with day trippers but very quiet in the evening. We tried four of the many sea food restaurants in the village and they were all good. There is a little convenience store nearby but it wasn’t open first thing in the morning.

The kitchen is well equipped and there was a great supply of groceries including beer and wine to meet us on our arrival. The nearest big supermarket is in Playa Blanca and there is a medium sized one in Yaiza. The TV has British and German channels (possibly French and Italian too but we didn’t try any others). The WiFi is good and works on the terrace.

The double and twin rooms are of a good size with plenty of cupboard space. The twin room has an internal window with a shutter and curtain into the living space; the single room is fine for one person. There were plenty of towels, sheets and kitchen towels. The only slight negative is the shower which is very small and the shower head doesn’t fit the holder properly.

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. El Golfo is a world apart from Playa del Carmen, half an hour from the airport and as Lanzarote is not a big island, nothing is more than about 40 minutes away. There is a great walk through the lava field on the coast at the end of the village and good walking nearby - we did a lovely coast walk from the village of Playa Quemada. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you want to see Lanzarote but away from the touristy areas.

Really very pleasant, typical house

We had a great time in El Golfo, a small village full of little restaurants (and a playground) along the ocean but with an invaluable quietness (they close at 21!). The house does not overlook the ocean but you can hear it (it's a 2-minute walk) and the beach (5 minutes on foot) is very pleasant for watching the waves and taking a nice "sunbath" (no swimming when we went, the ocean was cool and choppy). Since we were not in the center of the island, some places are an hour away by car (cueva de los verde, orzòla) but it didn’t really bother us as we enjoyed returning "home" every evening. Very cozy and clean house, well equipped, thanks also to Israel’s attentions (sweets and Christmas candles for the girls, supplies in the fridge and fruit, thank you!).

Coming from never-resting London we were looking to find a peaceful place where we could forget about our hectic lives and we found everything we were looking for at Casa el Veril.

Israel and his dad Jose are genuinely humble hosts who gave us a warm, homely welcome to their house, they provided us with all the information we needed and even showed us around the town!
The house is beautiful, clean, well located and contains everything one needs.
The bedrooms and kitchen are well sized and the outdoor space offers you a lovely private area where you could spend hours at if wanted.

Israel and his dad had excellent restaurant recommendations and were of great help and went way beyond their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable.

‘El Golfo’ is the perfect destination if you are looking for a peaceful place where you can always count with a smile from complete strangers.

Thanks so much Israel and Jose at Casa el Veril for a wonderful stay.

Don’t be influenced by the old-fashioned look of the pine furniture; this is the characteristic furniture of the Canary Islands and this house is absolutely exceptional. First of all, because of Israel's warm, charming, and friendly welcome, and then because you will discover how the locals on the Canary Islands manage ventilation and air conditioning sustainably. The accommodation is spacious and well distributed, and the kitchen and bathroom are brand new and perfectly equipped. Wi-Fi works everywhere and properly. And then there’s the courtyard, a large enclosed space sheltered from the crowds of visitors that flood El Golfo, where children can play safely while adults enjoy the sun. Sure, you can’t see the ocean, but you can hear it, and it’s better to reserve the Avenida Marítima for strolls and dining on the terrace (many restaurants, all more delicious than the others). A more than delightful basket awaits you upon arrival, a lovely gesture from the owners. So don't hesitate for a second. The advantage of El Golfo in winter, when the sun sets at 6 PM, is that restaurants serve continuously and you don’t have to wait until 8:30/9 PM like elsewhere in Spain to have dinner. And you get up early to enjoy the day.

Don’t be influenced by the old-fashioned look

Isra's and Jose's apartment is in a fantastic location just metres from the sea in El Golfo. The apartment is well appointed and tastefully decorated with plenty of towels (including beach towels), toiletries, blankets and a small library of books, magazines and local information . The generosity and welcome from Isra and Jose was second to none in our Airbnb experience, with an extraordinary amount of food, drinks and goodies provided. Although next door to Jose's house, the apartment was very private and quiet with its own secluded terrace with plenty of seating, loungers and BBQ.

As for El Golfo, it's a lovely wee place with a number of very good seafood restaurants where you can sit in the sun and watch the waves. It gets pretty busy during the day with visitors but is very quiet at night. It's worth noting that the restaurants close very early by Spanish standards - generally about 2100 -
and are closed on some evenings especially Sunday. The only grocery shop is small but has the basics although it keeps limited hours (0900-1700 I think) so it's worth stocking up in Yaiza. El Golfo is well situated for Timanfaya and you can walk from the house right through the park via the coastal path and stop at some secluded beaches. Highly recommended as it's very dramatic.

Isra and Jose - it was a pleasure to meet you and thanks for a great stay.

Very beautiful place and wonderful village at the end of the world. The small patio is perfect for having breakfast out of the wind. The house is very pleasant with everything needed and very thoughtful touches from the owner (fruit basket, full fridge, water dispenser...) who is lovely. A little paradise.

Very well-equipped house. Interior courtyard

Positive: Outstanding attention from the owners, very well equipped house and a very quiet village with a very pleasant seaside promenade.

house in a quiet village with charming surroundings

Very good

Positive : First of all, we got welcomed in person and we received a welcome basket of local goodies, plus a fridge full of drinks and food. The apartment was huge and it definitely got personality and a distinct style. The village has plenty of restaurants and nearby tourist attractions (Lago Verde and the Timanfaya park). We could also enjoy some downtime in the closed courtyard of the apartment. Definitely a good choice.
Negative : Not recommended if you're sensitive to noise: it can get quite windy on the island and from the bedrooms you hear that clearly, plus barking dogs and the sound of the surroundings. The village is very small and you definitely need a car to explore nearby attractions (but none of this is a fault of the owner or the apartment itself which was great)

Very welcoming hosts for an apartment with personality

Positive : helle, große Räume, voller Kühlschrank, Bettwäsche und Hand-/Badetücher genug, schattige Terrasse im Inneren
Negative : kein Strandblick

sehr entspannter Urlaub wegen ruhiger Lage, netten Vermietern, toller Ausstattung.

Positive: bright, large rooms, full fridge, plenty of bed linens and hand/bath towels, shady terrace inside.
Negative: no beach view.

very relaxing holiday due to quiet location, nice landlords, great amenities.

Positive: The very warm and generous welcome, we found the fridge filled and many fruits and other food for our needs. The hosts are very kind and discreet.

Lanzarote is a very interesting and beautiful island.

Positive: The host was always available on WhatsApp and ready to help. The house is located in a small settlement and must have once been the host's home, as a homely atmosphere has been preserved. There is no sense that you are staying in a guest house, but rather like visiting grandma in the countryside. Upon arrival, we were greeted with an unexpected surprise: the host left a compliment (in the form of free water, cookies, milk, lemonade, wine, etc.). The host had umbrellas, which once came in handy for us.

The host was always available on WhatsApp and

Remarquable

Positive: The welcome, the cleanliness of the place, the welcome basket upon arrival with fruits, drinks, cold cuts, cheese, and sweets, I really recommend this place.
Negative: The shower cabin is a bit narrow.

Remarkable

Positive : Fantastique !!!
We really enjoyed our stay in El Golfo. The house is very pleasant, equipped with all the necessary comforts and has a very nice courtyard, perfect for relaxing. Moreover, it is wonderfully located, just steps away from the restaurants along the seaside. We would also like to thank Mr. Gonzalez for his warm and attentive welcome (drinks, fruits, and other treats were available upon our arrival). In short, it is a place we fully recommend!

Fantastic !!

Positive : The house had lots of extras such as drink in the fridge, fruit and dried foods such as crisps as well as loads of towels and toiletries. It felt luxurious. Also, the patio had shade and sun throughout the day which suited everyone. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming.
Negative : Nothing. It was all very nice and quiet.

A lovely, relaxing weekend.

Positive : Una casa excepcional. Ubicada en un sitio único. Grande y bien distribuida.
Repetiremos.
Negative : Todo fue fantástico

Fantástico

Positive : An exceptional house. Located in a unique spot. Large and well distributed. Clean and filled with details that give a very cozy warmth. There are hand-painted tiles that bring a lot of joy. Also the ship models and a lovely patio full of cacti. The hosts are local people who are very professional, kind, and generous.
We have had a fantastic time. We will repeat.
Negative : Everything was fantastic.

Very comfortable little house in a great location

The property is well equipped, already stocked with provisions and located in a quiet spot in El Golfo. Within 2 minutes you are at various restaurants right by the water. Beautiful views there. Furthermore, you can easily walk into Timanfaya National Park.

Nice property in a quiet location

Typical white house of the island. Super welcome with the essentials for breakfast the next morning, and more (large fruit basket, cakes, drinks, bread,...)
The house is well equipped and close to the waterfront, less than 5 minutes on foot. About ten restaurants in the small village, as well as a mini market for essentials.
We are very satisfied with our stay, and we recommend it. On site, it was the owner's father who welcomed us for the key handover.

Typical Lanzarote House

A very nice house, clean and tidy with everything you could want to enjoy your stay.
Even down to complimentary fruit and beers etc.. Hospitable and pleasant family.
Really enjoyable holiday.

Lovely place to stay

We received a wonderfully warm welcome from the hosts, as well as wine, a basket of goodies and a fridge stocked with milk, meat, cheese, and drinks! The house was equipped with the essentials for a short stay, and was immaculately clean. The beds were comfy, and the Internet was fast! We will be staying again!

Cosy stay by the beach

We really liked the house. The owner is very, very kind. He left us plenty of fruit, drinks, and groceries. The patio has sun and shade and is very private. The house is very close to Avenida Marítima where there are many restaurants. You can park very easily. I would recommend a stay at Casa Veril.

Casa molto accogliente, grande, pulita e ben tenuta.

Perfect flat @ El Golfo, I will be back! I was there with my brother, but given its size, it would be a great flat for a family.

Check-in was super easy and the host provided us with a wide selection of fruit, drinks and other snacks. The flat is less than a minute from the waterfront and close to all the restaurants. Parking was also super easy and the flat has outdoor space too.

No complaints whatsoever. If you want to stay at El Golfo (and you should!), go for this one!

Very pleasant accommodation located in El Golfo, a charming little village that is preserved from mass tourism. The location allows you to visit the entire island, provided you have a car, which is great. You can take the coastal path that starts at the end of the village, and the nature park is very close!
Very pleasant accommodation with all the necessary equipment. The different openings allow for air circulation, which is very nice. A very nice terrace that we enjoyed in the morning and at the end of the day.
Hearing the ocean from your bed, we love!!!
A basket of fruits and plenty of drinks awaited us, and that is always pleasant.
Restaurant El Caleton very pleasant and very friendly staff. With a view of the ocean, of course!
We recommend without hesitation!

Very well located accommodation in El Golfo. Quiet, well arranged and equipped to feel at home. Many thoughtful touches (fruit basket, drinks and specialties in the fridge) awaited us upon arrival, which was very pleasant.
Responsive host living right next door.
Small pleasant inner courtyard allowing for full enjoyment of the outdoors.
Only downside: the bedding (double bed in particular) with a very uncomfortable mattress.
