Historic Charm in the Heart of the Douro Vineyards

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic house. It has a lot of character, and the thick stone walls kept the house pleasantly cool, even on hot summer days. The house was also spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Our favourite spots were the upstairs and downstairs patios, both offering wonderful views over the river and the town. Staying in the middle of the vineyards made the experience even more special, and being able to visit the winery was a real highlight. The rooms are very spacious, and staying here truly feels like stepping back into the early 1900s. The swimming pool is lovely and perfect for relaxing, although the outdoor furniture could use an update. The only small downside for us was that we found the beds quite hard, but of course that's a matter of personal preference. Overall, it was a unique and memorable place to stay.

The host was very friendly and the house very pretty and authentic with a magnificent view. However, the road is noisy and there was a fair in the evenings with music from the opposite shore that made a lot of noise late into the night. The house is well equipped but several items are showing their age. Still, that's part of the charm.
