The Dominican Republic stretches its Caribbean beaches over nearly a thousand kilometers, spanning Samaná Bay, the mountains of the Cordillera Central and the colonial old town of Santo Domingo. Our villas and houses let you set your own pace, from the north coast to fishing villages.

Swimming, whales and hiking

From January to March, humpback whales come to give birth in Samaná Bay: boat tours depart from Santa Bárbara de Samaná. The rest of the year, head to El Limón waterfall, reached on foot or on horseback, and to Rincón Beach, long and lined with coconut palms.

Around Puerto Plata, you can ride the cable car to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres and jump into the pools of the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua. In Santo Domingo, the Colonial Zone is best explored on foot, between Calle Las Damas and the Alcázar de Colón. With your own kitchen, you can cook the fish bought at the market and dine on the terrace.

Where to stay

In Puerto Plata, on the north coast, our accommodations provide access to Playa Dorada and excursions to Damajagua. The Samaná Peninsula appeals to those seeking nature and quiet villages, between the bay and the forests.

Santo Domingo suits history and city lovers, just steps from the Colonial Zone. Further northeast, María Trinidad Sánchez province offers still-uncrowded beaches around Nagua and Cabrera, ideal for a peaceful stay with family or friends.

Frequently asked questions

How many rentals do you offer in the Dominican Republic?

Homerez offers 4 rentals in the Dominican Republic, split across 3 villas, 1 house. You'll find them on the north coast in Puerto Plata, on the Samaná peninsula, in the capital Santo Domingo, and in María Trinidad Sánchez. Each property is rented in full, with a fully equipped kitchen.

How many people can stay?

Our accommodations vary depending on the location, from a cozy spot for a couple to a large villa. The biggest one sleeps up to 14 people, suited to a large family or a group of friends. Check the exact capacity on each listing before booking your stay.

How do you get there, and should you rent a car?

Puerto Plata has its own international airport, Gregorio Luperón, while Santo Domingo is served by Las Américas Airport. Samaná has El Catey Airport. Since distances between coasts are long and public transport is limited, a car makes getting to the beaches and waterfalls much easier.

What's the best time of year to go?

The dry season runs from December to April, bringing more stable weather. From January to March, humpback whales gather in Samaná Bay, where boat tours depart. September to November marks the peak of hurricane season in the Caribbean.

Which area should I choose depending on my stay?

Puerto Plata is great for combining the beaches of Playa Dorada with excursions to the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua. Samaná appeals to nature lovers, with waterfalls and peaceful villages. Santo Domingo will delight history enthusiasts near the Zona Colonial. María Trinidad Sánchez offers secluded beaches around Nagua and Cabrera.

Can you cook and shop for groceries on-site?

All our properties have a kitchen, perfect for preparing fresh fish bought at the local market. That way, you can enjoy dinner on the terrace at your own pace. Plan to shop for groceries upon arrival, since stores can be far away in quieter areas like Samaná or María Trinidad Sánchez.
