The former sugar capital of Grande-Terre, Le Moule stretches out facing the Atlantic, between reef-fringed beaches and cane fields. You come here for the open sea, beginner surfing at the Baie du Moule and the atmosphere of a Guadeloupean town still set to the rhythm of the sea.
Swim, surf and trace the thread of history
L'Autre Bord beach, protected by its coral reef, is perfect for family swimming and lazing in the shade of the sea-grape trees. More exposed, Les Alizés beach draws surfers and bodyboarders when the Atlantic swell picks up, from November to April.
On land, the Edgar Clerc museum traces the island's Amerindian occupation through its pre-Columbian collections. You then wander over to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church and the port, before sampling the grilled fish and accras from the vendors set up along the seafront. With a villa or house of your own, you can cook the lobsters and market fruit at your own pace.
Where to set down your bags
Le Moule's town centre concentrates shops, the market and direct access to the seafront: handy for getting around without a car day to day. Our apartments and bungalows there offer a simple base, just a few minutes from the beaches.
Toward L'Autre Bord and the surrounding heights, our villas and houses suit families and groups looking for a garden, terrace and quiet. From there, you can easily reach the Pointe des Châteaux, Saint-François and the rest of Grande-Terre for day trips.
