Réunion blends an active volcano, cirques listed by UNESCO and the lagoons of the west coast. In just a few hours by road, you go from the beaches of Boucan Canot to the high-altitude trails of Mafate. Our houses, villas and apartments give you a base to explore the island at your own pace.

Hiking, diving and reaching for altitude

The Piton de la Fournaise is climbed from the Pas de Bellecombe: book on low-crowd days and set off early, before the midday clouds. The cirques of Cilaos, Salazie and Mafate offer trails for all levels, from the Trou de Fer to villages reachable only on foot.

On the sea side, the Ermitage lagoon and Saint-Leu lend themselves to snorkelling and surfing. Don't miss the open-air market in Saint-Paul on Friday and Saturday, and the road to the volcano across the Plaine des Sables. Between June and September, humpback whales cruise along the west coast.

Where to set down your bags

Saint-Pierre, in the south, is packed with restaurants and nightlife, with quick access to the volcano and to Cilaos. Saint-Paul, on the west coast, puts the lagoons and beaches within easy reach, handy for a beach stay with the family.

Saint-Denis, the capital in the north, charms with its Creole architecture and its shops. Saint-Benoît, in the east, opens onto a greener, rainier Réunion, close to the Niagara waterfall and the plantations. A whole-property rental lets you cook up market produce and come home whenever you like after a long hike.

What to see – Réunion

  • Piton de la FournaiseAn active volcano climbed from Pas de Bellecombe, across the Plaine des Sables.
  • Cirque de MafateA UNESCO-listed cirque accessible only on foot, with isolated villages linked by trails.
  • Cirque de CilaosA mountainous cirque known for its hiking, hot springs, and local wine.
  • Saint-Paul Street MarketA Friday and Saturday market selling spices, tropical fruit, and Creole crafts.

Frequently asked questions

How many rentals do you offer on Réunion Island and what types?

We offer 38 whole-property rentals on Réunion Island, mostly split between 12 apartments, 9 houses, 7 villas. They’re concentrated around Saint-Pierre, Saint-Paul, Saint-Benoît, and Saint-Denis. Among them, 55 are air-conditioned and 38 offer a sea view, a real comfort along the western and southern coastline.

Are the properties well rated by travelers?

Rated properties show an average of 4.5 out of 5, based on 35 rentals reviewed. These reviews reflect real stays in our houses and villas. Be sure to check the reviews for each listing, as the properties vary widely between the coastal areas and the mountainous interior.

Do I need a car to explore the island?

Yes, renting a car is highly recommended. The main airport, Roland Garros, is located near Saint-Denis in the north. You'll need a car to reach the cirques, the volcano road through Plaine des Sables, and the markets. The villages of Mafate, however, are only accessible on foot.

What's the best time to visit?

The southern winter, from May to November, is drier and cooler, ideal for high-altitude hiking. From June to September, humpback whales pass along the west coast. The southern summer, from December to March, is hot and humid, coinciding with cyclone season.

Which area should I choose for my stay?

Saint-Paul, on the west coast, puts the lagoons of L'Ermitage within easy reach for a family beach holiday. Saint-Pierre, in the south, offers restaurants and quick access to the volcano and Cilaos. Saint-Denis is ideal for city life, while Saint-Benoît suits those seeking the lush greenery and waterfalls of the east.

Can I shop at local markets?

Yes, and a whole-property rental lets you cook with fresh produce. The open-air market in Saint-Paul takes place on Fridays and Saturdays, offering fruit, spices, and crafts. Take the chance to try lychees, Victoria pineapples, and other Creole delights depending on the season of your visit.
