Castile and León unfolds its plateaus, university cities and sierras in northwestern Spain. Between the Gothic cathedral of León, the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca and the pine forests of the province of Soria, you can take the time to explore a vast region, rich in heritage and generous in landscapes.

Explore cathedrals, sierras and the valleys of the Duero

In León, admire the stained-glass windows of Santa María cathedral and the façade of the Casa Botines designed by Gaudí, before following a stretch of the Camino de Santiago. Salamanca is best discovered on foot: Plaza Mayor, the historic university and the golden stone that glows at sunset.

On the nature side, Vinuesa opens the door to the Picos de Urbión and the Laguna Negra, ideal for summer hiking. To the west, the Arribes del Duero, near Vitigudino, offer gorges, birds of prey and granite villages. The local markets and the bodegas of the Ribera del Duero happily round out the itinerary.

Where to unpack your bags

Our houses and apartments are spread between large cities and quiet villages. León and Salamanca suit cultural stays, with monuments, tapas and student life within easy reach. A whole home there frees up a kitchen and space, handy with family or friends after a day of sightseeing.

For peace and quiet, Vinuesa and Narrillos de San Leonardo bring you closer to the forests of Soria, while Villalpando, Vitigudino and Ivanrey immerse you in rural Castile, its fields and its immense skies. So many bases to explore from at your own pace.

What to see – Castile and León

  • Casa BotinesA neo-Gothic building designed by Gaudí in León, now a museum and exhibition space.
  • Plaza Mayor of SalamancaA grand baroque square in golden stone, lined with arcades and bustling with cafés and terraces.
  • University of SalamancaOne of the oldest universities in Europe, whose plateresque façade hides the famous carved frog.
  • Laguna NegraA glacial lake at the foot of the Picos de Urbión, surrounded by pine forests and rocky cliffs, accessible on foot.

Frequently asked questions

How many rentals do you offer in Castile and León?

We have 19 whole-home rentals, with 15 houses, 4 villas leading the way. They are spread across major cities like León and Salamanca and rural towns such as Villalpando or Vitigudino. Some accommodate up to 23 people, handy for families or groups of friends.

Are the properties well rated?

Travelers give an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, based on 13 rated rentals. This feedback remains limited across the region as a whole, but mostly concerns accommodations in León and Salamanca, favored for their location near the monuments and their comfort after a day of sightseeing.

Do you need a car to visit the region?

León and Salamanca can be explored on foot and are connected by train from Madrid in two to three hours. However, to reach the Arribes del Duero near Vitigudino or the Soria forests around Vinuesa, a car becomes essential, as public transport is scarce there.

What's the best time to go?

Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures for visiting cities and hiking. Summer suits the Soria sierras and the Laguna Negra, though the plateaus get very hot. Winter is cold and snowy at altitude, ideal for peace and quiet but less suited to long excursions.

Which area should I choose for my stay?

For a cultural stay, choose León and Salamanca, rich in monuments, tapas, and student life. For nature and hiking, head to Vinuesa or Narrillos de San Leonardo, at the gateway to the Picos de Urbión. Villalpando, Ivanrey, and Vitigudino suit those who love rural Castile and tranquility.

What is there to see around the Duero?

The Duero valley crosses the region from east to west. To the east, the Ribera del Duero lines up wineries and wine-growing villages. To the west, the Arribes del Duero near Vitigudino reveal granite gorges and birds of prey. Remember to book winery tours and hikes in advance during high season.
