On the west coast of Mauritius, the Rivière Noire region lines up calm lagoons, west-facing beaches at sunset and forest-covered mountains. People come here to swim, surf, hike and watch dolphins, then head back to cook the fish from the market in their own accommodation.

Swim, surf and climb in the open air

In the morning, head out by boat from Tamarin Bay to approach the dolphins, or lay down your towel on the sand of Flic en Flac, one of the longest beaches on the island. Wave lovers make for Tamarin and One Eye, near Le Morne, renowned for kitesurfing.

Inland, the Black River Gorges National Park offers trails to the gorge viewpoint and to the Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire, the highest peak in Mauritius. Farther south, the Chamarel waterfall and the Seven Coloured Earths can be visited in half a day. Having your own kitchen lets you set off early and plan your days freely, with family or friends.

Where to stay

Flic en Flac holds most of our apartments and studios, just steps from the lagoon, the restaurants and the convenience stores: handy for a first stay where a car isn't essential.

Albion, quieter, appeals with its lighthouse and rocky coves, ideal for a calm pace by the sea. Finally, La Gaulette, at the foot of Le Morne, serves as a base camp for kitesurfers and for those who want to explore the wild south. Depending on the area, our villas and apartments offer the space of a home of your own, terrace and large table included.
